Carter Mayes

Associate Director

Carter focuses on deal origination and qualification, as well as developing investment themes and intermediary relationships.

Prior to Serent, Carter was an MBA Associate at Ironspring Ventures, where he focused on investment sourcing for the firm’s Fund II, led investment diligence, and supported portfolio company growth. He previously served as Director of Investments at Fresh Continents, where he led a $600 million equity capital raise to build and operate a new network of cold storage facilities along the East Coast. Carter holds a B.A. in Finance from the University of South Carolina and an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas, with a focus on private equity.

Originally from coastal North Carolina, Carter relocated to Austin in 2019. Outside of work, he is an avid skier and offshore fisherman and enjoys spending time outdoors with his golden retriever, Honey.
