San Francisco, CA – November 3, 2016 — Serent Capital, a San Francisco-based private equity firm focused on investing in high-growth technology and services businesses, has made a growth investment in Digital Architecture (“Digarc”), the leading provider of cloud-based software that enables higher education institutions to more efficiently manage their online course catalog and streamline their curriculum design process.
Digarc offers two primary software solutions to higher education institutions: Acalog and Curriculog. Acalog is a highly configurable, interactive online course catalog for use by registrars and administrators. Curriculog is a centralized workflow platform that allows faculty and administrators to collaborate on the curriculum design, change, and approval process. Acalog and Curriculog are integrated and highly complementary, both offering substantial value to clients by replacing manual processes that are paper-based, time-intensive, and error-prone. Digarc serves over 450 higher education institutions nationwide.
“We are thrilled about the potential ahead for Digarc through a partnership with Serent Capital,” said Ken Blais, founder of Digarc. “Serent’s experience in the education sector and their business-building resources will enable us to continue to accelerate our growth, further invest in our products, and deliver even greater value to our clients in the coming years.”
Serent’s investment in Digarc continues its track record of investing and growing companies in the education market. Other recent investments include C2 Education, a tutoring business for middle/high school students, and Diamond Mind, a payments company that serves independent schools.
“We have been highly impressed by the business that the Digarc team has built,” said David Kennedy, Partner at Serent Capital. “Digarc’s marquee client base, exceptional customer loyalty, and market share leadership are testaments to the value that Acalog and Curriculog offer to higher education institutions. We are excited to work closely with the Digarc team to build upon the company’s already strong momentum.” In conjunction with Serent’s investment, Angela Selden has joined Digarc as its new CEO. “Angie has an outstanding background and is eminently qualified to lead Digarc through this next phase of growth” added Kennedy.
Angie has served as CEO of several services and technology companies and on multiple Boards of Directors. “Digarc’s solutions have unlocked great value for higher education institutions,” said Ms. Selden. “I am so pleased to join this team with such an impeccable track record of technology innovation and customer satisfaction.” Ken Blais (founder) and Chet Jordan (former CEO) will remain significant shareholders and serve on the Board of Digarc going forward.
